I am not too sure where to start as overall we didnt play as bad as we did against harts or our home game against Wivenhoe but credit to Lawford as they were not as bad a side as the one that turned out the week before when they lost to Wivenhoe.for this game i thought they were a good side with a strong midfield and non stop running from their forwards.
We started the game really slow and made just too many little errors and after a period of pressure karl bloomfield slipped on the ball giving the Lawford forward a one on one with dippa who he got by to beat woody from close range. The goal seemed to give us a bit of a kick and we started to get more possession with a few half chances being created. However lawford broke and scored a fine goal when the other lawford striker headed in from close range after a perfect cross from the right. We were now up against it as we have not been in this position before but we got a goal just before half time when oozy lifted the ball over the defence and adam bloomfield ran on to score.HALT TIME 1-2.
Some good words of encouragement were said at half time mainly by clarkie as we knew we were right back in it.We started in positive mood but were caught out with a sucker punch when a ball through the middle was not dealt with and we went 3-1 down.
We used the roll on roll off subs to good advantage after this and clawed our way back level through dan daly and adam bloomfield again. We looked the most likely now and after nearly dominating the ball were caught out again when we couldnt clear the ball out of the area through various mistakes and the lawford right midfielder scored a simple tap in.Not to be outdone we pushed Steve Gray up front and he got us level with a smart header.4-4.
The game now looked to be heading for a draw until into injury time when lawford scored a nearly exact replica of their 4th goal when we again failed to make crucial tackles in our area and again the right midfielder slotted in with 3 players and the goalie on the line. This time there was no comeback and the game ended 4-5.
We left the pitch very disappointed but should still mathematically win the league but lost our first game in 16
