Report

Final game of the season and only 3 points would ensure we finished as league winners.

Despite a good start by us, Cockerham scored the opening goal after a shot was saved but not cleared.  The equaliser came soon after and from then on it was great attacking football from Westgate till the end.  Ross and Alec were different class on the wings constantly finding space with their moves.  The defence looked solid and rarely lost out in their challenges.  Luke's hunger for goals just goes on and on with another 4 today - nothing better than a striker who is a bit selfish at times as those goals have been so important in tight games this season.  Unlucky for Kallum not to score with a last minute penalty but at 9-1 and with the celebrations imminent it didn't matter.
Player of the Match today went to Liam D, for a dominant performance in midfield and great support to the strikers.
So on the last day of the season, Westgate Wanderers win their 4th consecutive league title - and a second unbeaten league season in a row.  Great celebrations as they are presented with the medals and trophy too.  It's no fluke that these players continue to be champions for yet another season - their individual skills and ability as a group of players is top drawer for a non-academy level and no team this season in the league, the Cup and the LFA has had the better of them in open play.  Well done lads and thanks to the supporters for another great season.
Bring on the tournaments!!!!
