Ray Wood, West Ham United Ladies Under 14s team manager presented the following end of season report at the club's Annual General Meeting at Upton Park last night:
Starting the season with such a young side, I thought this would be an uphill battle, but they have certainly proved me wrong. They have gelled well as a group and formed a great team. I would like to say good luck to the girls who are moving up to trial for the Under 16s. They have all worked extremely hard throughout the season. With only two losses and one draw we have finished runners up in the league which I am very pleased with. We also came runners up in the Essex FA County Cup and the League Cup. In early May we went to Wales for a SCI tournament and had a fantastic weekend where the girls were up against strong opposition but did not concede a goal and finished third overall.
I would like to thank Lea Hodges for collecting all the subs this year; Jeff Richards for doing a great job on the line; Graham and Lorraine Bland for producing match reports; Paul Martin for all his support and all of the parents for their support. Jim Maycock has been fantastic this season and worked extremely hard behind the scenes, and thanks too to Luke, Tracy, Laura and Dave for their support. Last but not least I thank Jane for her support and putting up with my moaning.
I am looking forward to next season already.

19/05/09 TEAM MANAGERS END OF SEASON REPORT
Jim Maycock, West Ham United Ladies Under 14s team manager presented the following end of season report at the club's Annual General Meeting at Upton Park last night:
The Under 14s have completed a busy and successful season. In all thirty two matches were played with a number of good quality friendlies supplementing the league season and giving the side some opportunities to play 11 a side football after the leagues disappointing decision to operate only a 9 a side league at this age group.
The Under 14 league was widely considered to be the most competitive age group with four clubs having genuine title ambitions. A tough pre season programme against American tourists and league winning sides for other counties, whilst not yielding wins, was the perfect preparation and the side qualified with ease from the seeding group. Once the A Division league started we quickly established ourselves with home and away wins against Southend Manor. A terrific performance at home to Little Thurrock put the title in our own hands and despite having to play catch up after a run of postponements we clocked up the victories required to seal the title.
In the cup the early rounds gave us easy wins before in the game of the season we came back from three down in fifteen minutes to win 6-3 at Southend Manor, with all six goals coming from Dannielle Robertson to advance to the final where we overcame Ockendon Rhinos in a thrilling game after extra time.
The squad has contained an equal mix of older and younger players, whilst some of the younger players have found it difficult to play a year up the experience of playing in a physically more demanding environment will hopefully help them for next season. Four players had their debut season with the club all making significant contributions to the team.
The focus at our training sessions has been very much on ball retention and passing and in passages of play this season we have shown how effectively we have developed these skills.
The squad possesses players with undoubted ability to make the senior level of the club; whether they will or not will very much depend on their attitude towards training. The younger players will need to step up to take a more dominant role as leaders on the pitch in the Under 14s, whilst the older players will need to train with a greater intensity and focus to develop the pace of play and quality of first touch on the ball that will be required in the Under 16s and beyond.
My thanks to former junior player Laura Allen who assisted with training session through the winter as part of her sports study degree and level three coaching qualification. Also to Brain Sorenson for stirling work with the linesmans flag and the parents for their support through the season. Finally thanks to Tracy for putting up with the hall being the boot room, the kitchen becoming the kit room and the car becoming the team bus.
18/05/09 HAMMERS COMPLETE LEAGUE AND CUP DOUBLE
West Ham United Under 14s completed the Essex County Girls Football League and Cup double with a tense 2-1 extra time victory against Ockendon Rhinos at Maldon Town FC.
The win caps a terrific season for Jim Maycock's squad, who have performed magnificently to achieve the double in what has widely been acknowledged as the most competitive age group in the league.
28/04/09 LAST TRAINING SESSION
The final training session of this season at Beckton will be on Friday 15th May.
All current players are reminded they should attend trials on Sunday 14th June for which they have been pre registered.
25/03/09 FLANDERS PAVILION ALMOST READY: VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
West Ham United Ladies were delighted to be given the news that the new pavilion at Flanders Playing Fields, home ground for all our junior teams, will become fully operational from April 4th.
In preparation on Saturday 28th of March from 10am till around 4pm the managing body of the grounds are holding a workday to help ready the new facility for final use. This will possibly involve:
Preparing & Planting around car park
Putting up fencing / netting to protect front of pavilion
Fixing of picnic benches & boot scrapers
Installation of TV aerial & TVs
Relocating metal fence panels
Installation of some internal fixtures & fittings
If you can, please volunteer a few hours to help as the Ladies section joins with all the other users of the pavilion and grounds to put the finishing touches to the splendid building. The day will end with a BBQ for all helpers.
Coaches, players and parents should note that from April 4th access to the playing fields will be via the new pavilion entrance in Napier Road and not through the current gates.
02/03/09 HAMMERS TO MEET RHINOS IN LEAGUE CUP FINAL
West Ham United Ladies Under 14s will meet Ockendon Rhinos in the Essex County Girls League Cup Final on Sunday 17th May.
The Hammers reached the final courtesy of a thrilling comeback in their 6-3 win at Southend Manor whilst the Rhinos disposed of Island girls 4-2 in their semi final.

Full route to the final

19/02/09 COUNTY CALL UPS FOR HAMMERS GIRLS
In a busy half term of football five West Ham United Under 14 players were on schools county duty, but unfortunately like the Hammers own programme the weather intervened.
Faye Cook and Lillie Kershaw were both selected for the Essex Schools side to play Buckinghamshire before a waterlogged pitch caused that match to join so many others in being postponed.
There was better news though for the trio of players selected for London schools with Sophie McLean, Morgan Mitchell and Leigh Houlihan all playing the full game as London beat Middlesex 2-0 at Harrow.
16/11/08 MORE COUNTY HONOURS FOR UNDER 14 PLAYERS
Congratulations to Lillie Kershaw who made her debut for the Essex County Schools FA representative side on Saturday in their 7-1 win against Hertfordshire Schools at St Albans. Lillie was joined in the side by former Hammers goalkeeper Alex Baker.
02/11/08 NEW LEAGUE FIXTURES ANNOUNCED
Following the completion of the seeding competition, West Ham United Ladies Under 14s have been placed in the A Division of the Essex County Girls Football League. Joining the Hammers in what looks like a very open and competitive seven team top league will be:

Ockendon Rhinos
Writtle Minors
Little Thurrock Dynamoes Foxes
Maldon Town
Redbridge
Matches will be played home and away with first fixtures due to be played on Sunday 16th November when the Hammers will play host to Southend Manor.
28/10/08 THREE UNDER 14s SHINE FOR INNER LONDON
With the Essex County Schools trials taking place at Chelmsford over the half term break, three young Hammers were already experiencing their county debuts as the Inner London County Schools FA resumed their girls county programme.
The Inner London Under 14 side featured Morgan Mitchell, Sophie McLean and Leigh Houlihan, who all performed magnificently in their sides 1-1 draw with Suffolk at Ipswich.
03/09/08 LEAGUE GROUPINGS ANNOUNCED
West Ham United Under 14s have been placed in a seven team group for their opening round of league fixtures in the Essex County Girls Football League for the 2008/9 season.
Competing with the Hammers for a top three finish to gain entry into the top seeded league for the second stage of the season along with the highest placed teams from the other qualifying league will be:
Redbridge Ladies
Writtle Minors
Chelmsford City
Maldon Town
Clacton Athletic
and
Sporting 77
League fixtures will commence on Sunday 21st September.
02/09/08 COUNTY HONOURS FOR UNDER 14 TRIO
Four younger players at West Ham United Ladies have been awarded county honours after being selected for the Inner London County Schools FA representative squads for the 2008/9 season.
Georgia Rands has been selected for the Inner London Under 16 side, whilst the Inner London Under 14 side includes Morgan Mitchell, Leigh Houlihan and Sophie McLean.
With Essex County Schools FA holding their trials in a few weeks time, the Inner London quartet will no doubt be hoping to line up against some familiar faces if the teams meet during the season with the Hammers usually well represented in the Essex squad as well.
08/08/08 BOOT DEAL WITH UNITED SPORTS
United Sports at Ilford have teamed up with West Ham United Ladies to provide senior and junior players with a terrific deal on new boots for the 2008/9 season.
Players will receive a 20% discount on new boots and other purchases made with the boots as well as a 10% discount on any future sporting equipment bought at their Cranbrook Road store.
20/07/08 LUCK EBBS AWAY IN PENALTY SHOOT OUT AFTER UNBEATEN TOURNAMENT
The younger members of the Under 14 squad took centre stage this week at the Ebbsfleet United Five-A-Side Tournament across the Thames Estuary in Strood.
The Hammers cruised through their group - with an impressive four wins and a draw racking up an incredible 31 goals in their five group games.
The goal tally was reflective of the fluent passing football the girls adopted on the slick 3G surface.
With only the single six team group in the competition West Ham, as group winners took on runners up Little Thurrock Dynamoes, whom they had already beaten 4-1 in the opening game, in the final.
However the Dynamoes had improved throughout the competiton and proved a tougher test with the young Hammers having to fight back from 3-1 down to square things up and despite a late seige of the LTD goal could not force a winner to avoid the penalty shoot out and resulting 5-4 loss.
Despite the penalty shoot out setback the girls can be pleased with the quality of football they produced with newcomer Sophie McClean, Amylee Gullefer and Morgan Mitchell all finding the net with regularity.
