25/05/10 TEAM MANAGERS END OF SEASON REPORT
Jim Maycock, West Ham United Ladies Under 16s team manager presented the following end of season report at the club's Annual General Meeting at Upton Park last night:
The Under 16s have completed a busy and highly successful season which began in July and culminated in the victorious Tesco Cup campaign during May. Along the way the Essex County Girls League title was won with a hundred percent record and the double secured with a comprehensive League Cup final victory. The inaugural Essex FA County Cup was also claimed and that gave entry into the Tesco Cup and an unbeaten performance in the Southern England Regional Finals gave the side a trip to Derby Countys Pride Park where the English National Title was duly won. In turn that led to an appearance at the UK Final at Bolton Wanderers Reebok Stadium as Englands representatives, where in a weekend that will live long in the memories of those present the squad claimed the UK Championship.
The seventeen-strong squad has had an equal mix of older and younger players with three debutants this season along with two players training with the squad through the season. The emphasis for the team has been to play a short passing style of football and the squad have worked hard to achieve this. In possession the side look controlled and comfortable and the style of play has brought continued praise from those who we have played and those who have watched.
Whilst the poor weather meant the league season continued into May, frustratingly reducing the possibilities for friendly fixtures against stronger clubs, it was possible to squeeze in evening games with touring sides from both Canada and Sweden which gave more competitive opposition and satisfying victories along with some friendly matches in the Autumn against competitive teams from other leagues. However it is a continued worry that the league programme does not provide the club with sufficient competition at this age group with many games won by double figure scores and it is credit to the focus of the team that they have been able to adapt their game for the tougher opposition they faced in the Spring.
There are many people to thank; Claire Stott for officiating the majority of our games, Julian Roberts and Paul Picton for goalkeeping coaching support, all the parents who have helped run the line, take down nets and wash kit through the season and of course Tracy for helping pitch side with all the knocks, cuts and aches and putting up with the front room not being decorated for yet another year as football takes up more and more of our time.
Most of all though, I would like to thank the squad themselves. It was clear at the start of the season this could be a very special year if they stuck together and worked at their game and this they have done. The football we have played has been a delight to watch and it has been a pleasure to coach such a great bunch of players.

31/01/10 LATE WITHDRAWAL SENDS HAMMERS THROUGH
West Ham United Ladies Under 16s advanced to the quarter finals of the Essex County Girls Football League Cup without a ball being kicked, subject to league ratification, after the late withdrawal of thier opposition for Sunday's first round tie.
A number of injuries left Aveley with a depleted squad for the first round tie which had originally beein scheduled for before Christmas and rather than playing with reduced numbers they opted to pull out of the fixture.
With little time to arrange an alternative fixture the Hammers frustratingly faced a blank weekend.
The Hammers will face Assundun Vikings in the quarter final but first face an Essex FA County Cup semi final with Writtle Minors.
25/01/10 HAMMERS TO TRAVEL TO WRITTLE IN SEMI FINAL
With the winter weather finally relenting to allow some football to be played West Ham United Ladies Under 16s fixture programme became clearer with the delayed cup fixtures now out of the way.
In the Essex FA County Cup semi final West Ham will meet Writtle after the Chelmsford based side beat Aveley in their delayed quarter final on Sunday. That match will take place on Sunday 7th February.
The fact the game went ahead means the Hammers are now clear to travel to Aveley next week to play them in a League Cup quarter final tie, with the winers to face Assundun Vikings in a semi final clash.
22/01/09 HAMMERS DRAWN AWAY COUNTY CUP SEMI FINAL
West Ham United Ladies Under 16s were given an away semi final tie when the draw was made this lunchtime live on Chelmsford 107.7 FM.

24/11/09 LONDON CUP DEFENCE BACK ON
Following a change of mind by the London Football Association there will now be a London County Cup competition for Under 16 Girls.
Initially the event had been cancelled due to lack of numbers and it looked as if the Hammers would not be able to defend the trophy they won last year with a 3-1 over Long Lane at the Mile End Stadium.
However that decision has been recinded and the event will now take place with four teams competing in a league format to determine the County Cup winners, with West Ham joined by Tottenham Hotspur, Long Lane and Parkwood Rangers in the four team event.
The winners of the competition will represent London in the Tesco Cup although should the winners also win another County Cup the honour will fall to the runners up.

30/10/09 NO LONDON CUP DEFENCE
Unfortunately West Ham United Ladies Under 16s will not be able to defend the London FA Girls Youth Cup which they won last season after beating Long Lane 3-1 in the final at the MIle End Stadium, as insufficient entries were received for this year's event and the London FA have decided not to run the competitiion.
The side will however be able to battle for County Cup honours and with it entry to the prestigious FA Tesco Cup due to the Essex FA's inaugural County Cup competition for which the Hammers have been drawn to meet RSA Basildon in the opening round on November 22nd.
21/09/09 AND THEN THERE WERE SEVEN
West Ham United Ladies Under 16s will have one less side competing with them in the A Division of the Essex County Girls League after the announcement that Little Thurrock Dynamos Foxes would be withdrawing.
The Hammers were due to meet the Foxes on Sunday but had already been given notice that this fixture could not take place and arranged a friendly with Croydon Borough to replace it, but the latest news now leaves the Hammers looking for a fixture for Sunday 15th November when they were due to play the return fixture.
The side will also be looking for a friendly for Sunday 25th October as Assandun Vikings have requested a 21 day postponement of the match for this date to an as yet unarranged date later in the season.
09/09/09 VIKINGS IN FOR ROCKETS
A late change to the league constitution has seen Assundun Vikings take the place of Leigh Rockets in the Essex County Girls Football League Under 16 A Division.
