It was unanimously agreed by club officials that Jeff Cox, a villager for many years, should be approached to become the President of our Football Club and we are honoured to announce that he has willingly agreed to take up the position.
Jeff, currently one of only 70 National referee assessors in the country, has a busy schedule over most weekends which sees him travel up and down the country assessing the men in the middle at Football League matches.
In his younger days Jeff was a first class referee in more ways than one. He started his career in the Yeovil League and progressed onto the Somerset County League and Western Leagues before in 1980 he was appointed onto the Football League.
He served on the Football League until his retirement in 1993 and was chosen to officiate at Wembley in three cup finals (Including the 1990 League Cup Final between Nottingham Forest and Oldham) and one international match when Sweden met West Germany in Stockholm.
In 2000 Jeff received the Referees long and meritorious service award for his services to the game.
Jeff remains the president of the Yeovil & District Referees association, a position he has held for ten years.
One of Jeff's first official roles will be to present the Jeff Cox Cup, which he has kindly donated to the club, to the Chinnocks Player of the Year at the inaugral presentation night on 17th May 2008.
Jeff has lived in West Chinnock for many years and is married to Sally, we are proud to welcome him to our club in the capacity as President.
The Chinnocks have missed FIVE penalties in the last FIVE games, who should take the next one?
Ian Masters
Mark Cawley
Dan Rudge
Gary Wookey
Declan Nelson
