Westway came up against the best opposition of the season so far, with a Hayes & Yeading team playing the type of football that all youth teams should aspire to. Westway didn-t start well and never looked comfortbale in any of the double headers, despite taking the lead in the first game.
It came against the run of play as Glen Kamara cooly rounded the -keeper to finish after Westway had managed to hold out during a prolonged period of pressure. Unfortunately some non-existant marking from a corner gave H & Y a well-deserved route back into the game and with Noel Eman off injured and Westway unable to get a sub on, H & Y took full advantage and scored a late winner.
The second game started in the same manner, with Westway giving away a sloppy penalty after the H & Y left winger was allowed to turn and run at the defence. Westway responded in spectacular fasion, with Glen Kamara, Ruan Mota and George Antoniades causing havoc with their movement and ability. Ruan Mota scored a fantastic free kick and Glen Kamara got two goals to put Westway firmly in control at half time with a 3-1 lead.
Unfortunately another second half capitulation followed and they conceded 4 goals, but the entire team must take responsibility for them. Noel Eman showed an attitude that doesn-t belong on the football pitch by refusing to track a runner, and Glen Kamara again showed the bad side of his Captaincy by being plain idle in attack.
Overall it was a disappointing performance with a few exceptions from players who gave their all but were ultimately let down by those around them.
