Manager on Monday
It would be easy to get carried away with the win against Irchester on Saturday. Don't get me wrong, it was a fantastic win but it has to be recognised that they are a team in transition and Kenny, their Manager, is building for next season. It's important that we show some ruthlessness and make sure that we take advantage of their current predicament. From that angle, I am really pleased with the win. That said, if we are to take ourselves seriously as a football team, we HAVE to win at these places, against bottom sides. Nothing less will do. One thing is for certain, it will not be as easy this weekend against Peterborough North Star.
We will be going into the game full of confidence, on the back of a good run of form and results. It is massively important though that we neither get ahead of ourselves, nor do we rest on our laurels. We, as a management team, have to keep pushing the players for more consistency, for better individual performances and for better fitness levels. To be fair to the players, their attitudes have been first class so far. The same has to be said of the reserves. Lee, Mark and Steve are doing a cracking job and the players deserve a huge amount of credit for their performances to date. They are sitting in an excellent position in a league filled with Premier Division Reserve players. Our team also boasts a number of players who are still plying their trade in the under-18's level, a quite remarkable achievement. Keep it up chaps.
The club is moving in the right direction and I'm pleased with what's been achieved so far. There are plans in place to take the club even further from the committee's perspective. Their ambition can only be matched on the pitch if we continue to do our bit from the playing side of things. We intend to keep pushing the players as far as we can in order to meet those ambitions because, as far as the management teams are concerned, we share the same goals.
