Wickham Wanderers FC was formed in April 1993 with just enough finance raised to supply each of its three new teams with an eye-catching orange and black kit. Borne from the ashes of Wickham Eagles little did we realize then, that the Club would grow to become one of the largest in the Tandridge League - with at least one team represented at every level from the Under 7's right through to the Under 18's. Indeed now with both a Saturday and Sunday adult side we have 20 teams in all! Two of the original members of the Committee, Peter Manley (now Club Chairman) and Andy Munsey (Treasurer) are still the mainstay of the Club. For the last 10 years they have been ably assisted by Tony Ford as Club Secretary. More recently Frank Webster, Richard Perry and Gary Wooton have come on board. We have since been awarded the prestigious FA Charter Standard, which shows us to be a well-run Club and a safe environment for children. Each new season brings more and more teams to the Club as younger brothers and their friends join as Minors. At the top end of the Club many of the boys pass on into adult football and they have also enhanced our growing reputation. The Sunday senior side was so successful in their first season in the Croydon Sunday League, winning the Division and reaching the Cup Final, that we now run two adult sides to meet the demand - the second side plays on Saturdays. All the Committee place great emphasis on the boys enjoyment, not only on the football front but also on a social basis and we organize many Club events during the year; a Christmas Party, tours to the Festival of Football, as well as our own Summer 5-a-side Tournament and an end of season presentation where every boy gets a trophy. Race Nights are also organized during the season - so parents can get a look-in too! Few Clubs can survive and grow without the help of sponsorship, the younger teams joining the Club have to be supplied with new kit and equipment, which, without the generosity of sponsors, would be difficult to support with subscription charges alone. We therefore encourage all Team Managers and parents to seek out sponsorship for their team and this season we are grateful to have secured the support of DP Connect, Capital Trophies, Addiscombe Sports amongst others. With a strong Committee dedicated to the success of the Club and with the tireless support of parents and sponsors, Wickham Wanderers FC really is going from strength to strength.
