Kevin Knott reporting....
Destiny Academy rolled up to the show pretty late and our disgruntled ref decided to reduce the playing time to 40 minutes each way - enough time to bang a few in I hoped....
We were looking to improve on last week's lacklustre performance, and I'm pleased to say we did that with flying colours. The only thing lacking was quality in front of the goal.
We could have had at least 4 goals in the first half, bu the final ball was poor, apart from Georges' effort, from Mark's pass, which he struck Huddlestone-like and the ball flew into the back of the net from outside the box - nice goal! 1 - 0 (25mins, G. Mushidi)
Destiny did little to trouble a Kroucher back four made up of James, Nathan, Kev and Andy.
H/T : 1 - 0 to the Kroucher
Nathan had to be replaced at half time after suffering a thigh strain (sick!), so Andy came into the centre and Pete made his comeback from injury at left back and was soon in the action with a spirited run down the left flank which left one speechless!
We were creating loads of chances but we couldn't hit a barn door today. The worst offender was Mark who blasted straight at the keeper from only a few yards out - Adu didn't do much better with the follow up which he snatched at and blasted wide - can't remember with which boot though - was it orange or red ? Whatever!
Sandy was introduced with twenty minutes remaining at the expense of an unhappy Jameeesssssss in a bid to add some quality to the frontline and hopeful add some more goals to our tally. We were by no means in the comfort zone at one nil, and were made to sweat when conceding a freekick just outside our box.
JT diverted the danger however, when he palmed away the shot to safety. Back at the other end Mark was on the receiving end of a nasty tackle which left him with stud marks on his inner thigh which Stan was quite happy to see to :)
With a few minutes on the clock, Graham was introduced in Mark's place and must have had his lucky rabbit in his pocket because seconds later, Adu finally found the quality we were lacking in front of goal and smashed the ball into the roof of the net from close distance, after buildup play from Sandy and Alex, to secure the points and stretch our unbeaten run to six games - I feel like Harry Redknapp!
F/T : WILF KROUCHER 2 Destiny Academy 0
Man of the match went to John who had an outstanding game and is looking back to his best, Georges came second with an equally good performance up front and a great goal when it was badly needed - well done all!
