Report

Bilbrook, champions elect arrived at the Mere for a double header fixture which meant the 1st half would represent their home game and the 2nd half would be ours.

We started the game well and good work down the right by Will enabled H to cross for Luke to head us into the lead. Bilbrook tried to respond but the Withy lads stood up to the pressure well and could have gone further ahead, when Jack spun and shot goal bound only for the Bilbrook keeper to tip his shot onto the bar and the rebound cleared. With Bilbrook getting more and more frustrated as the minutes ticked by things were looking good. The game then turned in a couple of minutes, Our free kick was cleared out of the Bilbrook penalty box and reached their forward on the half way line, he out sprinted our defence rounded Smithy and slid the ball home from a tight angle. Worse was to follow when we cleared a corned back to the taker, his miss hit cross sailed over Smithy’s head and landed into the corner of the net. Cue Bilbrook mass celebrations, they knew they had got out of jail. F-t 1-2.

The 2nd half/game started with all the momentum with Bilbrook and they scored with virtually their 1st attack. Unfortunately they got very little resistance from us and scored another 3 goals (at least 2 of them could have been avoided) without reply, to run out comfortable winners. F-T 0-4.

Well for more than 30 minutes we certainly had Bilrook worried, but once they scored 2 inside a couple of minutes they showed why they are going to win the league this year.

  • No scheduled fixtures.
