Working Well Together
WHAT IS WORKING WELL TOGETHER AND WHY ARE WE SPONSORING THE COLTS. The construction industry's current health and safety record is unacceptable By working together we can radically and permanently improve this depressing picture across the whole industry. The working well together initiative is a groundbreaking campaign developed by the Health and Safety Commission's Construction Industry Advisory Committee to raise standards of health and safety within the construction industry. Since its launch in May 1999, it has challenged industry stakeholders to commit themselves to raising health and safety standards by continuous improvement through: Commitment - to higher standards of health and safety Competence - ensuring everyone involved is trained and competent to do their work Communication - ensuring the health and safety messages permeate throughout a project - involving workers as well as managers in solving problems that arise Co-operation - building up relationships of trust and partnership so that we get the right things right, first time every time. The Hereford and Worcester Group comprises a number of local construction related organisations in partnership with the Health and Safety Executive and we aim to promote the improvement in health and safety performance by “industry helping industry”. At a local level we are committed to providing support to local small to medium sized enterprises in construction and to developing links to educational establishments and youth groups to re-enforce the commitment, competence, communication and co-operation necessary to be successful. These values we believe are equally applicable to team sport such as football and we are very pleased to be able to support the Worcester Colts under 10 team for this season in the hope that these values will be carried by the members of the team throughout the season and eventually into their careers and in particular into construction should any of them chose this very rewarding career path The logo on the team shirts depicts a brick – the starting point and foundation upon which we can improve standards. We wish the Colts every success for the 2009/2010 season. Further information can be viewed on the Working Well Together website: www.wwt.uk.com.
