Report

After a heavy defeat Worden needed a good start to inject some confidence into the side.

On a small compact but flat pitch football was there to be played on.

As the game kicked off Worden, never really under threat but were quiet for the standards they are capable of. However after quick thinking from Andy Dewhurst who committed himself on the last line of the Fulwood defence to force an error from their goalkeeper. GOAL 0-1

That gave Worden the confidence to start passing it, all be in flashes as Fulwood started to come into the game, although the backline, with assistance of the midfield coped well.

Another quick passing move up front saw the ball fall to Eastwood, who showed exactly how a goal threat he can be with a chip of all of 30 yards, the keeper not moving, into the top corner.
GOAL 0-2

The onslaught came from Fulwood, whose pride had been dented it seemed. They had already lost a front man to injury and needed something to go their way. After a ball into the box from a corner, caught the Worden defence duties at a lapse they got this. GOAL 1-2

Worden needed to keep their calm and inject some life into the game, and did so in patches, but again it was short of the capable standards. They were punished again a further ten minutes later after another set piece and a well executed ball into the box from a corner saw a GOAL 2-2.

H/T 2-2

The team talk was already written, more talking and teamwork from all areas required.

Some neat play Phil Dewhurst and the midfield resulted in this paying off GOAL 2-3. Game on!
In turn Fulwood began to show signs of wrangling amongst the ranks as Worden had took the game to them. The midfield battling, the defence composed and the forward line always looking a threat. Another neat forward play saw confusion in the back line of Fulwood, Eastwood calming tucking away from the error. GOAL 2-4.

An improved 2nd half for Worden continued and an individual goal from Phil Dewhuest was the highlight of this improvement. A strong run from his own half down the right hand side saw the Fulwood defence struggling to cope - Only one outcome GOAL 2-5.

This result puts Worden back in the mix to pull themselves back up the league.
