Report

Todays game was a great performance from Worden Rangers. Hoole Athletic were always going to be a test for the team character today.worden started the game well and were in control soon in the first half.Hoole came back at the lads with some good passing but today the Worden defence was solid and kept the Hoole boys out. David iampiatro was staking a claim for every header available and from then on i had a good feeling the lads wanted to win this game .Another string of good passes from Worden's defence out to midfield then stretching the play out wide had the home team on the back foot and the move was completed with a good effort from Dewhurst. As the game progressed Worden seemed to gain strengh in all area's Sam Chadderton and David Iampiatro linked well to close every gap at the back.Strong challenges from Speakman .Keyte .And Stott .Ensured that Worden had the upper hand in this pulsating game which was end to end stuff at a good pace. H/T 0-0.
Worden came out in the second half well with every player pushing there selfes to the limit to get an opener .They didnt have to wait to long for the deadlock was finally broke when Andrew Dewhurst put together a great passing move to push into the Hoole area. The ball came back to Dewhurst who put Worden ahead 1-0. Hoole then looked a little shaky and as Worden continued to press the Hoole Team were very staunt at the back to keep Worden out for a second. The home team started to creat there own chances and again saves from Brobyn kept the door firmly locked . Again and again the Hoole team threw everything at the Worden Defence but were met with strong challenges and and urgency to be first to every ball. Hoole are a great side and never gave up. Worden again moved the ball well and a move saw chris Meadwell break out from the defence to go on a run that was at great pace passes moved in field then back out to the Hard working Meadwell who found the ball back at his feet and struck the ball well. It came back of the keeper and as always through this game there was a Worden player wanting the second ball.Eventually the ball sprang back to Chris Meadwell who slotted the ball home for Worden's second 2-0.But Hoole athletic were not yet a beaten side and put togher some great flowing football . the ball was pushed wide again and another decent cross came in this time testing the defence of Worden once more .The ball fell to a Hoole Player who's shot sprang of Brobyn's foot and of the post .A big let off for Worden. Then it was the turn of the Worden lads to string another great attacking move this time a long ball caught the Hoole team out and a shot from Simon Taylor who infact had just made his entrance to the game for the young Worden player Kurtis Robinson ,who infairness did nothing wrong it was just a move from the Worden Manager to push a fresh approach to the now under pressure Hoole team and this nearly capped it with a good chance from Taylor. Five minutes later a second change was made and a switch from left to right saw Bellocchi move to left wing and Andrew Dewhurst made way for Phillip Dewhurst to come on and go out right. this again had some players scratching there heads as to why the switch .But it was a move that was to make a differnce because soon after that Bellocchi was running at the tired defence with menace. Then shortly after the third goal came from Worden A great move again from several Worden players to bring about an attack out wide which saw Bellocchi run into the box at the keeper who got a hand to it but pushed the ball back and the Worden player who was quick to jump on the second ball it was a good strike a hard shot into the Hoole net with i may add ,the left foot. 3-0 The Hoole team should have been finished as so many teams are at 3-0 down. but not these boys they pressed Worden for a solid last 10 minutes and on occaisions must have wondered what they had to do to score past a very Inform Worden Keeper today Brobyn. Time after time the defence was asked serious questions but today the Worden defence were in a defiant mood and wanted to progress hear at all cost .This was a great win for the Worden team and there Manager who told the lads that infairness that todays game was one of there best performances to date.

Managers View.
Worden showed a lot of character here today and stayed solid in all departments across the park. This puts them in a great frame of mind for there next apponents in the league Uclan Rangers.
