Report

Wsfc 4 v 1 Albion.

Played yesterday (sunday) in a ridiculous howling wind, that did have a spoiling effect, on the game.

Thanks initially for the game, to the Albion.

Although it was 'them' who asked for the game, it came at a very convenient time, for WSFC, as we have a large amount of potential new signings, training with us at present, and its far easier to make a judgement, in a match situation, rather than agianst each other in training.

Wsfc, started each half, with a good mix of regular players / new possibles.

Curly broke the deadlock, with a deft lob of the keeper, into the far top corner, but after an unlucky headed back-pass, caught on the breeze, and slipped past Steve, it was soon to be 1-1.
Normal service was resummed, when a burst of pace (the like of which we havent' seen for some time) from Craig Lovell, gave him a couple of yards of room, to slot a 2nd, past the out-rushing 'Albion' keeper, (who in my opinion, was their best player, for the 2nd consecutive game against WSFC - which tells you a bit about the balance of play)

Half time was 2-1 to wsfc.

2nd half, we made 9 changes

Despite this, and the fact that we were against a head wind (which was changing direction regularly) Wsfc, played some of the best football I've seen for a good while from us. (Bearing in mind the amount of new faces, and the fact that we were missing the likes of Luke Walker, Wiggy, Scouse, Bubble, Doughty etc, that speaks volumes, for those who did play)

Debutant 'deadeyedixie' was running the show from midfield, and was my MoM. He has the kind of experience / ability, that to be honest, we haven't had, in the 12 mths that I've been with Wsfc. His ability to read a short pass / give himself 2 yds of space, when there doesn't seem to be room, is what we've been looking for, for some time. It was also notable, the effect he had on the lads around him, who seemed to also grow in confidence. If we can sign this kind of player, that would be a major coup for us. (Come on....... you know you want to ) Him & pazza in the middle..... I would like to see that, next time we have a game!!

'Rk11' & 'Alexmill red for life' made their competetive debuts up front for us, with both having strong games. (Alex only being 14 yrs old !!!) Alex took his goal very well, and Rk11 was very unlucky on a couple of other ocaisons, but I'm sure his 1st goal for us, wont be far away?
Other debutants, who did well, were Sam (LB) / Seb (RM). Both looked very comfortable, and settled in with ease.

Over-all, a very good team performance, with everyone playing their part, and deserving the result.
Also thanks go to:- Jamie, Raphael, Sparky20 & Luke, for also making their debuts.

Out of the 12 - 15 new lads who have come along to train with WSFC, I could realisticaly see 4 or 5 of them hopefully signing on, which is pretty much the number I was hoping to be able to bring in.
With still other possible new lads yet to com along, the future looks very bright for WSFC. (watch thsi space!!)

  • No scheduled fixtures.
