Writtle Saturday 1sts just miss out on promotion
Once again, it was a case of so near but yet so far for the Saturday 1sts as they missed out on promotion from Senior Division Two of the Essex Olympian League. They finished sixth in the end but one more win would have lifted them into the top 4 and gained them promotion. This was probably a little disappointing as they had been top of the League at Christmas time and beat all of their nearest rivals at least once in the League.
In the cups, Writtle got to the quarter finals of the League Cup before bowing out 5-2 to eventual finalists M&B Club,having beaten Premier Division Epping 1-0 in the previous round. Early exits were made in the Essex Premier Cup and Bill Spurgeon Cup.
