Report

Well I think that we possibly ‘saved our best till last’.

I thought that this was an outstanding win because we worked harder in this game than we had done in any game this season, and it just shows what concentration and hard work can do!

Telford were on top for most of the first half they were bright, confident on the ball, organised and generally played better than we did in the first half, but we stuck with them and worked hard to stop them scoring.

We had very few opportunities to score ourselves but we defended really well and made sure that Telford didn’t get many chances to score either.

The three players in midfield Kane Lewis, Billy Morgan and Luke Scorey did brilliantly in midfield and Paul Griffiths was outstanding at the back, and all the players played their part in winning the ball back from Telford.

HALF TIME 0-0

Nya Graham Shea, Brandon Streete and Matt Finney came on at half time and improved us but when Telford scored through Ben Osei with about 20 minutes to go, it seemed like that would be enough to win the game.

Kane Lewis sent DJOFFRY MYOPI away to shoot past the advancing Telford goalkeeper though, and 1-1 would have been a tremendous result at that stage in the game, but the Wolverhampton players had other ideas.

Spurred on by the goal and with the pace of Brandon, Djoffry and Nya, and with the prompting from Luke, Kane and Billy Wolverhampton got on top for the final 10 minutes.

A free kick from Kane Lewis was well saved by the Telford goalkeeper and pushed round for a corner.

Time was running out and Kane again got the ball to Djoffry on the edge of the box who turned to shoot on goal. Another fine save was parried and BILLY MORGAN who had made another great run into the box was on hand to turn the rebound in to win the game for us 2-1.

I have often told the players that they are too lazy and that they have to work hard to win games – well I can have no complaints after this performance. They deserved this win through their hard work from the start to the last kick of the game.

I also realised that we have been asking Billy Morgan to play a holding role in midfield when we should have let him play further forward because his  natural instincts to attack and make runs in behind defenders at the right times is superb.
