A draw was a fair result in this match where both teams had short periods of domination and chances.

United only put a few good moves together in the first half and didn't look like scoring. They allowed New Street too much room in their own half and suffered as an excellent cross saw Nick Oliver strike home after 20 minutes. New Street had several more chances but a good save from Tom Hindmarsh and a couple of goal mouth scrambles kept the ball out of the net.

After a half time talk from Jim Macey, United played much better but neither team were able to make the game their own with only a few more chances, this time at both ends. Eventually Ollie Bridges ended a good run by United with a goal after 80 minutes. A final shot by Like Walker in injury time was well saved to leave the result at 1 - 1.
