Wyvern 1st 1
Hulan 2

Report

Wyvern started brightly with new signing from Taunton Town Shaun Anthony looking like he could provide them team with the lift they badly needed after their last minute defeat to Bridgwater Sports.

However with their opponents looking to play a long ball over the top every time they were in possesion Wyvern began either looking for a killer ball over the top or playing short passes at the back when under pressure. One such ball over the top released the excellent Anthony who composed himself and tricked the keeper to commiting himself early before clinicly lobbing the ball over the prostate keeper.

This should have sparked Wyvern into top gear but the vunrability of the opposition defence seam to entice Wyvern to lob the ball forward at every opportunity without every building quality possesion.

Wyvern should have doubled their advantage when an excellent ball from the right evaded the defender and found Justin Plaw unmarked 6 yards out but the striker stabbed his shot wide when it seemed easier to score.

Hulan had a couple opportunitys on the break in the first half and their quick left winger was causing Wyvern problems and Daniel White was lucky to escape without a caution after bringing him down after he had got behind the Wyvern back line.

The second half was a non starter for Wyvern who were at least trying to play football but ended up giving the ball away all to often in dangerous areas of the pitch. As Wyvern went looking for the all important second goal they were again guilty of trying to force passes that were never there instead of retaining possesion. When this happened Hulan were looking dangerous on the break and gave Wyvern a number of warnings before scoring twice in 5 minutes from similar situations.

Wyvern huffed and puffed in the last 10 minutes to find an equaliser but could never get back into a rythm to create quality opportunities. The theme at training Tuesday (7pm Gipsy Lane) is sure to be passing and movement to ensure Wyvern get back to winning ways away to Locomotives next week.
