Founded in 1997, Middlesbrough Baptists Football Club was a combination of Cambridge Road and Coulby Newham Baptist Churches. The team joined the North East Christian Fellowship League adopting the mission statement of:

'The use of football as a means of true Christian fellowship and the proper use of said fellowship as a means of glorifying God and representing a good Christian witness.'

In 2004, Middlesbrough Baptists FC had a change of management and in order to reflect the new manager's home church, the team changed its name to Yarm Vineyard FC.
