ABOUT THE CLUB

Formed in the early 1980's as Rowntree LFC, the team became Oaklands Rangers in 1986. In 1995 the team entered an exciting new era when they became York City Ladies FC after forming links with the men's team
City were founder members of the highly regarded Northern Combination League in 1998 and have been senior members of the Y&H Premier League since then. The Ladies have come agonisingly close to glory in that time, being runners-up in the Yorkshire Cup in 2002 and North Riding County Cup in 2003, finally getting their hands on the elusive silverware of the North Riding County Cup in 2004 and 2006. The First Team won the North East Regional League 1st Division during 2006 completing a league and cup double under the guidance of Joey McGrory entering the fourth tier of the national pyramid. The club introduced an under 14 team at the start of the 2005 season as well as achieving the Charter Standard status. The Junior section has increased further for 2006/07 season with 7 and 11 a-side football being played at Under 13 and Under 15 level. Both Junior age groups play their 11 a-side football in the West Riding Girls League and are led By Robert Pearson and Dean Cairns. The well established reserve set-up led by Dean Jennings, play in the North Riding County League and continue to nurture young talented footballers. The club have undergone many changes in recent years and with Paul Ryan as first team manager the club are looking forward to a bright future.

In junior football, should all players be given the same amount of time on the pitch during a game, regardless of ability?
Yes, always. Getting kids involved is the most important thing.
Yes, unless it is an important game.
No. Winning is important at all ages, so the best players should play more often.
