City headed to rivals Morely after a heavy 7-0 defeat against Doncaster the previous week.
Playing a new 4-3-3 formation, City looked dominant from the start. With good passing and free flowing football City were pushing for a goal, a superb corner was delivered by Racheal with Renfrew and Roofe unlucky not to make contact within the box. It was from this corner that Morley pushed on to score their first goal of the game. Picking the ball up from the edge of their penalty box and delivering a long ball down the centre of the pitch. Morley players soon found their way at the opposing end of the pitch passing the ball around the city players before slotting home to make it 1-0.
This goal spured the City players on and they were soon rewarded with a goal. Renfew and Roofe linked up well with a neat 1-2 for Renfew to slot the ball between two Morley defenders for Robson to set up the shot for Shuttleworth who slotted the ball home past the keeper to make it 1-1.
The 2nd half saw changes form both teams. Both teams were pressing for another goal, but it was City who worked harder and this paid off by receiving numerous corners which were unlucky not to be converted in to goals. Again, City were caught on the counter attack and Morley made it 2-1 , but Thompson scored minutes later to make it 2-2 with a good shot from the edge of the box.
The final stages of the game saw chance after chance for the City ladies who were unlucky not to score. The game finished 3-2 to Morely. With a division above us, we were certainly the better team.
In junior football, should all players be given the same amount of time on the pitch during a game, regardless of ability?
Yes, always. Getting kids involved is the most important thing.
Yes, unless it is an important game.
No. Winning is important at all ages, so the best players should play more often.
