Main Fight back but Slip to Defeat.

The Main travelled to recent League Cup Winners Dronfield looking to take three points and put a spanner in Dronfields championship challenge.

Dronfield started the brighter of the teams but were limited to long range shots. The Main found their way into the game and Bird was running the right back ragged. The warning had been coming and on 11 minutes Bird beat his defender and played a tantalizing ball across the Dronfield penalty area. Hinsley showed more desire and slammed home. Dronfield were rocked but on 18 minutes Horsefield latched onto a mistake and rifled home hte equaliser. The Main looked the more likely to score with Hinsley and Osbourne being denied by excellent defending challenges. On 36 minutes Kynaston produced a solid save from dangerous free kick. 3 minutes later and Bird should have put the Main infront. Evans pass released Bird but his shot was saved by the Dronfield keeper. The half time was approaching but with 44 minutes played Moore cleared off the Mains goal line.

The second saw Dronfield press early and Kynaston did well to tip onto the cross bar from Dronfield's 11 thunderous shot. On 56 minutes Dronfield got their noses in front. The 10 again seizing on a mistake to execute a smart finish. On 63 minutes Kynaston tipped round a shot by Dronfields 7. With 15 minutes remaining the Main were reduced to ten men. Evans reacting after being brought down but the referee decided that it was not a foul. The Main stepped up the pressure and Dawson's searching passes began to take its toll on the Dronfield back line as Osbourne and Hinsley broke at will. With 84 minutes on the clock Bird set Hinsley through on goal. The Dronfield keeper raced from his area but the challenge by Hnsley was too strong and he jumped up and lashed the ball home for a deserved equaliser. Time was running out for Dronfield and on 89 minutes Horsefield broke through and stabbed the ball into the corner of the net.

This was tough luck on the Main who showed great charater to get back into the game and put Dronfield under such pressure.
