Win at Clipstone over Shadowed by Injury to Walker.
The Main made their first away trip to Clipstone looking to take the first three points of the season away from home.
The game got underway and it was the Main who opened tihe scoring on 2 minutes. Watson seizing on a defensive error before rounding the Clipstone keeper and slotting home. Clipstone then began to play good football but they did not threaten the Mains back line. On 20 minutes Bird was ruthlessly hacked down and from the resultant melae Evans was red carded. The Main adjusted and kept things tight but CLipstone didnt change the way they played. On 29 minutes, Hinsley swung in a corner and Watson jumped the highest to steer the ball home for his and the Mains second of the game. The Main held onto their two goal lead going into half time.
The second began with Clipstone continuing to play the same way, which the Main contained. On 56 minutes Clipstone looked to have scored but Scully produced a fantastic save to tip over. The game was running out of control and a couple of poor challenges were creeping into the game but without punishment. Tracey was poorley tackled and the offendng CLipstone palyer was shown a red. On 60 minutes a free kick delivered into the Mains penalty area was headed home by the Clipstones number 5 to give them a lift. On 71 minutes Hinsley saw his shot take a deflection and hit the Clipstone bar. On 76 minutes Clipstone again looked to have scored but Scully showed a great pair of hands saving well. On 82 minutes Walker raced clear and beat the on rushing keeper to the ball. The keeper continued and took Walker out with a reckless challenge. Walker lay prone on the pitch in total agony. The keeper received a yellow card and Walker received a trip to hospital with a suspected broken leg/ankle. The game was held up but from the restart the game was not the best and was soon brought to it conclusion.
A good team performance and result was over shadowed by a horrendous tackle and resulting injury.
