ZORIN WIN AFTER A HARD FOUGHT GAME!!!
Zorin played there second game of the season against NDRFC. Zorin havent played them for a few seasons due to being in different leagues, but the rugby lads always gave Zorin a good game and we wouldnt expect any less tonight. Zorin had a couple of extra players added to there squad tonight from last week with Richard Weekes and Shane Hewitt coming back in. Sam Fife would also be making his 50th appearance for Zorin tonight being the 8th person to reach this milestone.
Zorin started brightly and passed the ball around really nicely and Fifey should of opened the scoring when put in on goal but his strike was straight at the NDRFC keeper who managed to push it away to safety. Fifey made up for this though not long after when he slotted Parky in on goal and Simon didnt make a mistake by placing the ball into the back of the net. Parky has started the season in goalscoring form this being his third goal in 2 games. Zorin kept going forward looking for a second and Wheeler had a couple of good efforts which flew past the post and wide. Zorin didnt have it all there own way though and Banksie had to be on top form to keep out a couple of long range efforts, and also he did well at the feet of on running forwards a couple of times to keep Zorin ahead. Near the end of the half though NDRFC did manage to pull level when Zorin were slow to pick up at a corner. The corner was taken quickly before Zorin were set and a first time shot found the back of the net to make the score 1-1. Zorin could of still gone in at half time infront when Wheeler found Shane Hewitt free in the middle, but Shane got his feet mixed up and only managed to scuff a shot towards goal. Even after scuffing it he almost scored the keeper only just getting his leg to it to keep the scores level at half time.
The second half was alot tighter than the first and both sides had chances to take the lead and all 3 points. Banksie again had to be at his best to keep out a couple of long range efforts, and Zorin also were unlucky with long range strikes the NDRFC keeper making some good saves. Zorin lost Weeksie part way through the half to a hamstring injury, the injury had kept Weeksie out for a few weeks and it seems he will be out again for a while. When the game looked like finishing a draw Zorin moved the ball wide to the left to Shane Hewitt who took a couple of touches before letting rip with a lovely strike. The Keeper almost saved it but the ball managed to get past him and into the net. 2-1 Zorin!! Even after this both sides had chances to score and Rob 'the rifle' Harper had the best chance. Rob got the ball in the middle and showed some nice skill to beat the defender but his shot was right at the keeper who saved with his legs.
Zorin held on to win 2-1 and maybe they werent at there best tonight but they managed to pick up the 3 points which is all that matters. Next weeks game is against another side Zorin have never faced before in Kollers Killers hopefully Zorin will up there game and pull off another victory!!
